MINISTER MEETS WTH NEW NOPSA ADVISORY BOARD
The Minister for Resources, Energy and Tourism, the Hon Martin Ferguson AM MP, yesterday met with the seven members of the Advisory Board of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority (NOPSA).

The new Board members have been appointed for terms of up to three years, as recommended by the Ministerial Council on Mineral and Petroleum Resources.

The new appointments are: Bill Bloking (Chair), Susan Johnston and David Healey.

Robert King, Barry Adams, Dale Bond and Margaret Donnan have been reappointed to the Board.

Minister Ferguson said: "The members bring a range of industry expertise which will enable the Board to provide policy advice to the Chief Executive Officer of NOPSA and the Ministerial Council on Mineral and Petroleum Resources.

"I look forward to working with the Board to develop a forward agenda which will enable the Board to complement NOPSA's regulatory role and provide strategic advice that will contribute to improving Australia's offshore occupational health and safety outcomes."

Minister Ferguson said a key task for the new Board will be to provide advice on implementing the recommendations of the independent review of operations to improve the safety regulatory regime.

"The review noted the valuable advice given by the inaugural Board to NOPSA to establish a sound base for the safety authority's corporate governance structure. I have no doubt that this will continue with the appointment of this board," Minister Ferguson said.
