BUDGET TO DRIVE BATEMANS BAY TOURISM
The Hon Martin Ferguson MP, Minister for Tourism, has announced Budget funding of $100,000 to boost tourism in the regional hub of Batemans Bay.

The $100,000 funding is for Batemans Bay Chamber of Commerce to develop and implement a tourism marketing campaign that will help increase tourism.

Minister Ferguson said: “Batemans Bay is a ideal weekend and holiday retreat for people from Canberra and Sydney and the town is well positioned to capture tourists seeking a weekend get-away."

"Bateman's Bay is the only place where the commercial fishing trawlers are permitted to sell their catch direct to the public. It is a great experience for tourists to be able to buy direct from the locals of Batemans Bay and enjoy the region's produce.

"Through the provision of $100,000 funding, the Chamber of Commerce will be able to develop a comprehensive marketing plan, including research, media proposal, creative execution and expected outcomes.

"The implementation of the plan would promote tourism during the shoulder periods of autumn and late winters, early spring.

"There is strong local business support to further develop tourism in Batemans Bay and fits with the Batemans Bay Foreshore Development Plan.

"Tourism provides a great opportunity for regional communities to enhance their economic sustainability by providing jobs and industry diversification and it is pleasing to see the Batemans Bay community to keen to enhance the tourism appeal of the town."
