On 8 July 2010 the Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson AM MP, visited Liverpool Plains at the invitation of local MP Mr Tony Windsor. During his visit the Minister met with community leaders to hear their views on the significant issues facing the region. The Minister confirmed the Federal Government's $1.5 million commitment for the Namoi Water study that will look at the potential impacts of proposed coal mining and coal seam gas extraction on the region's water resources.
