Audience members from the Oprah Winfrey Show have begun their journey discovering the natural wonders of the Blue Mountains.
Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP said that Tourism Australia, in partnership with Tourism New South Wales and industry partners, has put together a truly exciting program of activities to showcase the world class tourism experiences on offer in the Blue Mountains.
"Audience members have the opportunity to experience the spectacular scenery and native wildlife in this World Heritage listed area", Minister Ferguson said.
"Activities will offer our American visitors a taste of Australian life with everything from bushwalking to stargazing and wildlife tours, and many more highlights to look forward to over the next few days."
"The Blue Mountains are one of Australias most iconic tourism destinations, and one of the most accessible eco-escapes being situated so close to Sydney. The famous eucalypt forests will now be on display again as part of this important visit."
Doug Cameron, Senator for New South Wales, extended a very warm welcome to the audience members and invited them to make the most of New South Wales genuine hospitality.
"Oprahs audience members are in for an absolute treat during their visit here in the Blue Mountains", Senator Cameron said.
Yesterday audience members had the opportunity to see kangaroos, wallabies and other native wildlife on a sunset tour and as well as some nocturnal fauna after a relaxing meal sampling some of the best local produce.
Tourism generates $14 billion dollars for New South Wales economy. With the strong economy and high Australian dollar more Australians are choosing to holiday overseas at the same time that more international visitors are coming to Australia.
Oprahs Ultimate Australia Adventure will encourage more visitors to Australia but it will also remind Australians that some of the best holiday destinations in the world can be found right here in our own back yard.
"I encourage more Australians to head to the Blue Mountains for their holidays and follow in the footsteps of Oprahs audience."
