Audience members from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” are continuing their Victorian adventure with a trip to the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges.
Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP said that Tourism Australia, in partnership with Tourism Victoria and industry partners, has put together a truly exciting program of activities to showcase the world class tourism experiences on offer in Victoria.
“Audience members have the opportunity to experience the spectacular scenery, and first class food and wine on offer in the renowned Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges,” Minister Ferguson said.
“Activities will offer our American visitors a taste of Australian life with everything from wine tasting to encounters with our stunning wildlife.
“The Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges are an ideal nature escape and offer visitors a relaxing and scenic holiday experience.”
Mr Rob Mitchell MP, Member for McEwen, extended a very warm welcome to the audience members and invited them to make the most of Victoria’s genuine hospitality.
“Oprah’s audience members are in for an absolute treat during their visit here in Victoria,” Mr Mitchell said.
“Over the past two days audience members have revelled in the vibrant buzz of Melbourne and enjoyed a variety of outstanding scenic tours to Phillip Island and the Great Ocean Road to name but two examples.
“Today groups will move inland to the lush forests and rolling hill scapes of the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges. Here they will have the opportunity of a close up encounter with our native wildlife as well as tasting some of Australia’s greatest wines.
“Tourism generates $8.6 billion dollars for Victoria’s economy. With the strong economy and high Australian dollar more Australians are choosing to holiday overseas at the same time that more international visitors are coming to Australia.
“Oprah’s Ultimate Australia Adventure will encourage more visitors to Australia but it will also remind Australians that some of the best holiday destinations in the world can be found right here in our own back yard.”
Mr Mitchell said the visit is fantastic news for the region’s local economy and its international profile.
“I strongly believe that today’s visit will attract many overseas visitors to Victoria, particularly the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges.”
“I encourage more Australians to head to the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges for their holidays.”
