Audience members from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” have enjoyed a scenic flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuta National Park, and a visit to the Royal Flying Doctor’s Service as part of their journey discovering the world class tourism experiences on offer in the Northern Territory.

Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP said that Tourism Australia, in partnership with Tourism NT and industry partners, has put together a truly exciting program of activities to showcase the majestic sights, sounds and ancient Aboriginal culture of the Northern Territory.

“Audience members are experiencing the spectacular scenery, flora and fauna of Australia’s outback including a flight over the World Heritage listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park,” Minister Ferguson said.

“The Northern Territory boasts some of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, as well as embodying much of our rich Aboriginal history and culture, and this will now be on display again as part of this important visit.”

Member for Lingiari, Warren Snowdon, welcomed the American visitors and invited them to make the most of the Northern Territory’s unique and genuine hospitality.

“The Northern Territory is one of the most interesting and diverse areas of Australia and we hope our visitors enjoy getting to know and love the place and the people just as much as Territorians do,” Mr Snowdon said.

“The majesty of this landscape is unparalleled and audience members had the opportunity to visit an art gallery in Alice Springs and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the outback over a sunset BBQ dinner in the desert. Today this journey will continue as audience members learn more about Aboriginal history, art and culture.”

Tourism generates $965 million for the Northern Territory’s economy. With the strong economy and high Australian dollar more Australians are choosing to holiday overseas at the same time that more international visitors are coming to Australia.

Oprah’s Ultimate Australia Adventure will encourage more visitors to Australia but it will also remind Australians that some of the best holiday destinations in the world can be found right here in our
