Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer
Minister for Resources and Energy
The Government’s Policy Transition Group will meet for the first time over two days in Canberra on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 September.
The Group is charged with undertaking effective consultation with industry and providing robust advice to Government on the implementation of the resource taxation reforms announced on 2 July 2010.
These reforms will deliver important benefits to the community including major investments in regional infrastructure, a cut to the company tax rate and tax breaks for small business.
Over the coming weeks the Policy Transition Group will be commencing a series of consultations with key stakeholders across Australia.
This consultation process will be supported by the release of a draft paper for discussion, and a formal submission process, along with further consultation.
Through this process the Group will work through any outstanding concerns, providing certainty for industry.
A detailed consultation timeline will be developed and published by 24 September 2010.
Further information on the consultation timeline and process will be published on www.futuretax.gov.au. Membership of the Policy Transition Group and its terms of reference will also be available on this site.
Interested stakeholders should contact the Policy Transition Group Secretariat at PTG@ret.gov.au for further information on the consultation process and to nominate for a consultation session.
