A $100,000 Australian Government initiative to promote Batemans Bay as a

premier tourist destination was officially launched today.

The Member for Eden-Monaro, Dr Mike Kelly AM MP, launched the Batemans Bay Marketing Campaign on behalf of the Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP.

The Batemans Bay Marketing Campaign comprises:

  • Extra marketing and promotion including print and online activities, building on the existing work being done by Eurobodalla Coast Tourism
  • Customer service training for local businesses to enhance the experience of visiting Batemans Bay
  • 60 branded banners in and around Batemans Bay to promote the town as a desirable destination to motorists looking for accommodation and visitor attractions.

Mike Kelly said the local economy would benefit from the Australian Government's funding.

"Investment in tourism is investment in jobs and the benefits flow throughout the local economy providing opportunities for local business. The Australian Government is pleased to invest $100,000 to promote tourism in Batemans Bay. The investment will promote our attractiveness as a tourist destination and help us deliver even better customer service.

Minister Ferguson said: "The Australian Government understands the enormous economic contribution tourism makes throughout regional Australia, which is why we are committed to helping Australia's tourism industry grow within a highly-competitive market.

"Innovation and service will be the future for Australia's tourism industry and I am confident the tourism industry in and around Batemans Bay will continue to develop exciting projects and welcome more visitors."
